Dr. Minka Hotic knew she wanted to go into dentistry after volunteering at a dental clinic in Maputo, Mozambique. She saw firsthand the impact dentistry could have on ones life. By the end of her time there, she knew she wanted to be a dentist.
In December of 2006, Dr. Minka graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. From there, she went on to gain her DDS from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, NC. While in school, she was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for her project on providing dental care to children in need. Post-grad, Dr. Minka enjoys volunteering at the local Wake Smiles dental clinic and NC Mission of Mercy clinics. She often works with UNC Dental students as Adjunct Faculty during their DYOR Refugee Clinics which she helped start while in dental school.
Since being at Riccobene and Associates, Dr. Hotic has focused on providing comprehensive general dentistry.
Dr. Hotic constantly pushes herself further by taking continuing education courses. Dr. Hotic is licensed to work in both North Carolina and South Carolina. She is Invisalign certified and continued her education in implants and earned the ICOI (International College of Oral Implantologist) fellowship. She is a member of the American academy of Cometic Dentistry, American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry.
Along the way, Dr. Minka met and married her college sweetheart James. They have two young sons, Michael and William. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Minka enjoys traveling to other countries with her boys.
“I love dentistry because it’s part science and part art. To top it all off, I get to build long-lasting relationships with patients while providing them with a healthy beautiful smile.”
