Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry is supporting Johnston Health Hospital, WakeMed and New Hanover Regional Medical Center healthcare workers by donating medical face masks, gloves, disposable gowns, disinfectants and sanitization wipes. This generous donation comes at a critical time as hospitals experience shortages of proper protective gear for their doctors and staff when treating the COVID-19 outbreak.
(NORTH CAROLINA) March 25, 2020 – Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry is donating much needed PPE in Cary, NC to WakeMed Hospital, Johnston Health Hospital in Smithfield, NC and New Hanover Regional Medical Center of Wilmington during the COVID-19 viral outbreak. Hospitals all over the country are experiencing shortages of critical protective equipment like face masks and gloves to keep their staff safe while treating patients who may have the virus. This donation upholds the Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry belief in protecting the health and well-being of their community and their healthcare providers.
“This is an unprecedented time in history, and we need to act now to support our communities. We are treating people with essential dental needs, trying to do our part to keep them out of emergency rooms so that the hospital beds can be used to help treat the virus. As healthcare providers ourselves, we understand the need for proper protection as it keeps the medical teams and their patients safer,” said Dr. Michael Riccobene, CEO of Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry.
During the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, hospitals around the country are experiencing drastic shortages of key protective equipment for their staff when treating possible infected patients. With an increase of patients being admitted into hospitals, current supplies do not cover the demand healthcare workers are experiencing. Medical masks and gloves are designed to be used once, and with hundreds of new cases of COVID-19 reported every day, supplies are dangerously low. Donations like the one provided by Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry support hospital healthcare workers, allowing them to stay safe while they treat patients.
Both medical professionals in hospitals and family dentists use PPE for similar purposes. Medical masks prevent both patient and doctor from spreading disease, virus, or bodily fluid to each other. Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry follows all sanitation and OSHA protocols at each of their practices to keep patients and staff safe, including the use of masks and gloves.
Staying healthy, washing hands, and avoiding touching the face are some of the primary ways people can prevent themselves from contracting the virus. This also includes keeping oral health in an ideal state through brushing and flossing while at home, and routine dental appointments. The mouth is often considered a gateway to the rest of the body, and with a healthy mouth and body, patients are better able to fight off infections. Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry provides comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages in order to keep them at their healthiest, including treatment for gum disease, root canal therapy, professional teeth cleaning, and oral surgery.
