Dr. Don DeMichele, DDS, hails from Boise, ID. He earned his BS in mechanical engineering from Boise State University in 2009. Before pursuing a career in dentistry, Dr. DeMichele worked as a licensed professional engineer specializing in water treatment using advanced membrane technologies such as reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration. His journey to becoming a dental professional began in 2015 when he enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.
Inspired by his wife, a dental assistant, and his frequent visits to her dental clinic in Boise, Dr. DeMichele quickly recognized the parallels between engineering and dentistry. The movement toward innovative technologies like CAD/CAM, milling, and 3D printing in dentistry resonated with his engineering background. After completing dental school, he served as a dental officer in the US Army Dental Corps for five years, including a one-year general dentistry residency at Fort Carson, CO, and four years as a general dentist at Fort Liberty, NC. Currently, Dr. DeMichele serves as a dental officer within the North Carolina National Guard.
Dr. DeMichele is a seasoned dental professional with expertise in several advanced dental procedures and technologies. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM) and specializes in dental sleep medicine. His skills include same-day crowns, onlays, veneers using CAD/CAM, restoratively-driven digital implant planning, custom implant restorations, and impression-free dentistry using intraoral scanning. He is also proficient in creating partial and complete removable dentures, performing simple and surgical tooth extractions, and conducting bone-preserving grafting procedures following extractions.
Dr. DeMichele is passionate about leveraging innovative, proven technologies to enhance the dental services and experiences he provides to his patients. As both an engineer and a dentist, he takes pride in being a self-proclaimed science nerd. He continuously seeks to integrate the principles of biology, engineering, and materials science to optimize clinical outcomes.
Dr. DeMichele has been married for 21 years to his high school sweetheart, Sarah. Together, they have three sons: Gabriel (19), who is currently serving as an infantryman with the US Army's 10th Mountain Division; Henry (16); and Grant (13). The DeMichele family enjoys spending quality time together, particularly exploring the scenic outdoors of North Carolina. With a unique background combining military training, engineering, and dentistry, Dr. DeMichele is committed to merging the best practices of these fields to provide exceptional care to his patients. His dedication to continuous learning and innovation drives his approach to modern dental practice.
