Dr. Preston Wilson hails from the scenic mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina. After graduating from Ashe County High School in 2014, he pursued his undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University. Initially set on a career in software engineering, Preston earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, graduating summa cum laude in 2019. However, during his time at Appalachian State, he discovered a deeper calling—dentistry—where he could combine his love for hands-on work, his proficiency in the sciences, and his desire to help people in a more direct and personal way.
Following his passion, Preston stayed an extra year at Appalachian State to complete the necessary prerequisites for dental school. He then attended ECU School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his DMD in 2023. To further hone his skills, Preston completed a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in 2024, gaining extensive experience in complex root canals, oral surgery, implants, and other advanced procedures.
Dr. Wilson is particularly passionate about performing root canals and oral surgeries, finding immense satisfaction in relieving patients' pain and restoring their smiles. He takes pride in his ability to deliver natural and esthetic results, especially through meticulous shade-matching in restorative procedures such as crowns, bridges, and dentures.
Beyond his professional life, Dr. Wilson is an avid hiker who cherishes the beauty of the western NC mountains. He is also a dedicated weightlifter, rarely missing a day at the gym. His love for animals is evident in the bond he shares with his family dog, Daisy, and his pet blue-tongue skink, Gilgamesh. Driven by a commitment to providing empathetic, painless, and nonjudgmental care, Dr. Wilson believes in treating every patient as a friend, ensuring they feel comfortable and well-informed throughout their dental experience.
